The Journey of Formation

The Eight Stages of King David's Life

+ + +

The life of King David provides a narrative arc for every student’s formation at The Lutheran Classical Academy of St. David the King. From beloved child to shepherd-king, David’s journey mirrors the education that befits a young person’s development: seasons of innocence, testing, skill-building, maturity, and ultimately, the grace of God that sustains His people through every chapter of life.

Beloved Child

+++

Every child enters the academy as one beloved of God, received in baptism and entrusted to the care of family and congregation.

Heir of Israel

+++

Students inherit the rich treasury of faith: Scripture, catechism, hymns, and the promises of God spoken over them.

Shepherd in the Wilderness

+++

In seasons of quiet formation, children develop patience, attentiveness, and the habits of heart that sustain faithfulness.

Godly Warrior

+++

Armed with truth and courage, students learn to stand firm against falsehood and to contend for what is good, true, and beautiful.

Accomplished Psalmist

+++

Through music, poetry, and the arts, students give voice to the full range of human experience under God's care.

Maturing Adult

+++

Growing in wisdom and responsibility, students begin to exercise judgment, leadership, and service in their various callings.

Shepherd-King

+++

The graduate of St. David’s is prepared to lead by serving. Where kings are servants, and servants are kings.

Forgiven Child of God

+++

Through every stage, the student remains what David always was: a sinner saved by grace, held fast in the promises of Christ.
