At St. David’s, we believe God has a royal calling for every child: to grow in wisdom, stature, and the grace of God and man.
Imagine St. David as a shepherd boy, guarding his father’s flock against the dangers of the wilderness. He succeeded in that task and grew to be the beloved Shepherd-King of Israel because he applied his whole self (heart, body, and mind) to learning about God’s creation and following God’s Word. Our distinctive Lutheran classical education aims to help your child experience the same growth and success.
Deeply rooted in Holy Scripture and our rich Lutheran heritage, as emphasized in our Mission and Vision, we partner with parents and families in their divine calling to raise children who master the classical arts while being formed in the faith of Christ that makes knowledge complete.
This education follows the same pattern as the childhood of Christ, who mercifully became man that He might also “increase in wisdom, stature, and the grace of God and man” (Luke 2:52). This is more than Christian education. It is holy and practical formation for the good life: faith toward God and love toward the neighbor.
The Lutheran Classical Academy of St. David the King at Zion will help children grow in the wisdom, stature, and grace of Christ by providing an education rooted in Holy Scripture, the Western heritage, and the pursuit of excellence.
St. David's will endeavor to serve the families of Zion Lutheran Church and other households who desire a Lutheran classical education. The goal of this endeavor is to raise new generations of Christian gentlemen and gentlewomen who, as learned disciples of Jesus, confess the faith with joy and doctrinal integrity and serve in home, church, and nation with competence, humility, and virtue.
The work at St. David’s is rooted in our mission and vision, and illuminated by the four lamps that guide us in cultivating wisdom, stature, and grace in our students.
An education where Christ is the very lens through which all knowledge is understood and made complete, leading to genuine insight, understanding, and an intellectual depth that exceeds our imagination.
An education where the seven classical liberal arts are not just subjects, but the tools for mastering all knowledge. Immersed in the great works of Western civilization, this tradition forms students in wisdom, eloquence, and a love for what is good, true, and beautiful.
An education where the theological precision of Lutheran doctrine provides a clear, consistent spiritual framework so that teachers and students may stand firm on biblical truth in a wavering world.
An education that honors parents as primary educators, nurtured by the household of faith and defended by secular law. A harmonious partnership of these three leads to the “whole person” development of body, mind, and soul.
Our crest employs Biblically rich imagery to symbolize the Christ-centered classical education our students will receive. The three emblems on the shield are drawn from the life of our namesake, St. David the King.
A golden harp stands for the wisdom by which St. David composed poetic psalms, prayers and hymns that continue to grace the Scriptures today.
A slingshot recalls the stature exhibited by St. David when he faced and felled the giant, Goliath, citing his confidence in the Lord.
A jar of anointing oil symbolizes the grace shown to St. David when God anointed him to be His king, and by which He taught him the way of repentance and peace.
These three virtues—wisdom, stature, and grace—are the goal for each student at the academy.
With the diligent work of our Academy Development Team affirmed and authorized by the Church Council, we are taking momentous steps forward.
